Until I heard Rubber Soul, this was my favorite album from The Beatles. It's just a good, fun pop album with quite a few really memorable tracks.

Track picks
1. I Saw Her Standing There
7. Please Please Me
8. Love Me Do
14. Twist And Shout

My second favourite Beatles album. The best of their straight up rock 'n' roll albums, just full of energy. Hell, it somehow has Ringo Starr singing about how much he likes boys and manages to make it sound NOT ridiculous! And of course, I Saw Her Standing There and Twist And Shout are amongst the Beatles best.

Twenty years later, Duran Duran wanted place the Beatles' "Is There Something I Should Know?" Please please tell me now, please please tell me now, Please please tell me now, please please tell me now. And a little later, Pet Shop Boys released the album Please.Derivatives might be loose, but every time someone does something that is similar to the Beatles makings, the media always starts enthuses. A good start to the band's recording career. And excellent the opening track. They were much more promising than Radiohead thirty years later.

One of the best records by a bar band anywhere, up with the Doors debut. I love the raw energy on this album; you can tell they're 20-year-old kids having the time of their lives just pounding the album out in one eleven hour session.

Poor John Lennon had a cold and lost his voice for a couple days afterwards, but that howl on Twist and Shout makes the song.
