Something indeed though.

Okay, short paragraph.

In the 90s was a band called Diabologum. Post-situationnist pop kind of shit, interesting, but the music never held the promises the band sort of made, until this came out in 1996

#3 by Diabologum

which is the best rock album in the history of France. And which, of course, you must listen to.

After which masterpiece, they disbanded. Well.

Out of this band emerged two outfits : Experience, a very post-hardcore outfit, sometimes on the poppier side of things, and Programme. Programme is led by Artnaud Michniak (who was later to produce one the best French rap/spoken word albums, Road movie en béquilles by fellow Toulousain Nonstop) and works within the rock global pattern as well, but one a more, how should I say, "experimental" (I hate the word) side of things. Deesperate spoken word over disconnected post-hardcore/postrock instrumentation, verging on noise rock sometimes - definitely one of the best albums to have come out of France in the last 20 years. tl;dr: YOU NEED THIS

If you can't find it: HMU

I would so much love people on here to try this album. It is a masterpiece and if some of you trust my taste, you know I ain't joking.

A sample of Diabologum's #3 :

And one of Nonstop's Road movie en béquilles, produced by Michniak :

YOU MUST LISTEN TO THESE ALSO

hmu

WARNING: they're all EXTREMELY DEPRESSING records. Don't listen to them if you understand French and are into a somber state of mind. I'm serious.

Stopped about half - way through the ep because it just got boring. Some interesting sounds, but couldn't keep my attention all that much.

However, I remember listening to that #3 album previously and liking it quite a bit so I might go listen to that later today.

EDIT:Regarding French bands, I'd recommend Daïtro and Sed Non Satiata which are two of my faves.

That's just too much "experimental" for me. Do you really listen to this kind of things all day? Laughing

No. I never listen to anything 'all day'.
