My answer to the poll is no. I don't read any reviews or anything like that, although I used to read Spin. Taking critic's opinion into conscious consideration is good up to a certain point, but once you've figured out what your taste is, reviews are a patronizing waste of time. A really good review should just try to explain what an album sounds like and let people make their own decision based on that, rather than quantify its worth based on the author's personal taste and opinion.

Hello, you've just gained 1,000,000 benpaco points. These points are redeemable for nothing whatsoever, but you've received them nonetheless.
Anyhow, all of those, Train (I know all of the words to every song they played live when I saw them), Sigh No More, Any Man In America, Orchestral Maneouvers In The Dark, Airborne Toxic Event, blink-182, The Sun and The Moon, Vessel, Pretty Odd and Too Weird To Live both, Americana, Foiled, and OK Go's whole discog get not so great ratings here and elsewhere, but all of those except Train are on my overall chart. _________________

In response, I love Train, Panic at the disco, OK Go, a few Blink - 182 albums (especially dude ranch), and Orchestral maneouvers (however, their early 80's work is highly praised and amazing).
EDIT: Also Brad Roberts (Crash test dummies) has the best voice ever.

lol I actually meant Blink's and OMD's eponymous releases, though as a whole their discogs are pretty good. Also yes he does, I love an untrained baritone voice and he's got one of the best. _________________

Panic! At The Disco and Hot Hot Heat are great!
I like Lil Wayne, Carly Rae Jepsen, Lady GaGa (only her early work though), a bit of Ke$ha, etc.
It's all fun

I'll edit this post later with specific albums, but right now I will admit I have a soft spot for Trap Rap.
I mean, jumping at a party to Us by Lil Reese or All My Niggas by Lil Herb or even Macaroni Time. THAT is fun stuff! And I'll admit that these songs are usually objectively horrible (especially Macaroni Time) but goddamn it's a blast to party to.

If I recall correctly, Eagle-Eye Cherry's album Desireless has been dismissed routinely as "Save Tonight and a bunch of filler", but I've found it really enjoyable. Yes, ST is the best thing on the album, of course it is. But it's not like there are bad songs by any means. I'd say it's a bit influential for my musical style.
