I don't know if it's the best or anything but, someone mentions "best opening chord", I automatically think "A hard day's night"; as iconic as it gets, mysterious for decades and impossibly hard to reproduce. Just try.

I can't see the videos because I'm from the phone (hence the matches not being posted yet, though they're coming), but I hope someone has mentioned Teenage Kicks by The Undertones, because it's pretty much the best power pop/pop punk song ever written. I've experienced few things as powerful as the 1-second drum intro followed by the explosions of the guitar chords. What a singer as well, though it's out of the thread's subject.
