Maybe this could work, mainstream, accessible stuff, but they're not the Black Eye Peas.

The Office might understand your frustation

"I am so tired of the Black Eyed Peas. It’s rock and roll for people who don’t like rock and roll; it’s rap for people who don’t like rap; it’s pop for people who don’t like pop."

Just play some classic Destiny's Child or Beyonce and she'll forget all about Black Eyed Peas.

How would that expand the breadth of her musical interest?

Try not expanding the breadth of her musical interest. She's fine with it.

This is similar to that topic about that guy's girlfriend having wrong music taste, and Goodsir's problem with his friend's taste in music. Sure it comes across as elitist, but it is something a lot relate to, I'm sure.
I don't think there is a problem with trying to find music that both you and your love like.
We don't know shit about their relationship. Do I spy another example of BEA presuming to know more about a user's life than they do? Also this topic seems to all lead to the fact he really dislikes The Black Eyed Peas. Who can blame him? Seems an innocent enough thing. Of course it doesn't deserve Jack's venom, but not much does. He isn't even talking about forcing what he likes on her, he just wants to help her find more music that she likes. That isn't even remotely a bad thing.

Dave suggested that he get into the Black Eyed Peas instead. His only response was "how will that get her to open up her musical boundaries?" He didn't even consider that, I dunno, her interests are as valid as his, and that maybe he should try to take some interest in what she likes before trying to force his interests upon her. It was generally a pretty selfish, douche-y thing to say.

My girlfriend loves Marianna's Trench and w/e pop-punk emo shit like that. And I'm cool with it. When she wants to throw on some Marianna's Trench when we make out, I let her. Hell, I even step beyond my elitist shell, I try and listen to the music from her perspective. And you know what? It's made her more inclined to listen to my music as well. Relationships are give and take. Dude's being a prick.
