I've always found this album extremely irregular, with fantastic singles on one side and a bunch of pretty mediocre ballad fillers (with the possible exception of "She's Not Dead".

So, much as I love "Animal Nitrate", "Metal Mickey" and "The Drowners", most of the other tracks just make me yawn.

Coming Up > Dog Man Star, Bloodsports > the rest

If there's any band who's affiliated with Britpop and doesn't sync with me very well, it's Suede. They're decent sounding I guess, but I'd prefer their sound if they were more flashy and fun. I do own this album, but it's one of those I doubt I'll ever open and put it on for a listen.

Suede did not start "to sound Britpop" until after the term had been made up. Their debut was nicknamed "new glam" or "new wave of new wave" back in those days as far as I remember, and it truly has not much to do with what britpop came to be later on.

Well, as much as I enjoy being aware of new information, I never did claim anything in regards to the genre (hopefully you don't think that). The fact is that people do associate them with brit pop regardless of arriving previous to the movement. Either way, the underlying problem is still the same regardless of what you call it.

Sure thing. Funny thing, though: if they hadn't recorded "Coming Up", which is far more flashy and fun than the debut, near the peak of "Britpop", nobody would associate them with that at all.
