"Vitalogy" is tied with "Ten" as my all-time favorite PJ album. This album is filled with classics, and Vedder's song-writing is fantastic! I could do without the last track though.

9/10

It's better than Vs., but that's not saying much.

I was fortunate enough to hear some of these songs live before this album even came out. PJ did Spin The Black Circle, Not For You, etc. on the Vs. tour so I was looking forward to this album when it was released.

The first three tracks come out of the gate like a sledgehammer, PJ trying to be "punk" I guess. They experiment with some different things on this album: The accordion based, Tom Waits-ish Bugs, the Revolution 9-ish Hey Foxymop..., and the mantra of Aye Davanita. This a band expanding their sound and moving away from the grunge label.

Two of my favorite PJ are on this album as well, Corduroy and Nothing Man. This album is a good bridge from were they were musically with the rock of Ten and Vs. to were they were going more experimentally with No Code.

I think it's one of their more interesting and daring records.

This. It's probably their second best record after Ten, but that's not really saying a whole lot. In the end, Pearl Jam were a good, but not great classic rock band. Their music will not withstand the test of time I suspect, and I personally have given up on trying to figure out why they were ever deemed special in the first place.

I mean, they certainly had a notable influence, just not on many bands I like Laughing

I've blown hot and cold with this, and with Pearl Jam altogether. Right now, I'm pretty tepid to both.

Can't touch 10, but it's a pretty solid record. For mainstream 90's albums, it's definitely above average.
