Sometimes this is my favourite R.E.M. album, so many gems here. Never been so fussed about about Begin The Begin, but every other song is a gem - their most fun album for sure. Fall On Me is possibly their best work, and These Days is irresistibly punchy, even the cover of 'Superman' has some goofy charm. Solid 9/10 for me.

I actually find this easier to overlook than the other IRS releases. Maybe I shouldn't... _________________ Finnegan was super bad-ass.

No. You should.
This is where they started to become Dad Rockers losing the excitement & enigma of their first three releases. It plods where they used to sprint. The ballads are the best stuff here.

WHAAAAAAAAAAAAT
Best release from my favorite band of the 80s. Incredible stuff. Their first five albums are the best five-album suite ever. There just isn't a single mediocre track on any of these records. What a band.

R.E.M. are one of those bands I find pretty consistent and this is no exception, it's pretty great but I'd still only rate it 5th out of their albums (I tend to go 'Automatic For The People', 'Green', 'Murmur' and 'Document', then 'Lifes Rich Pageant'). I really like 'The Flowers Of Guatemala' and 'These Days' in particular and 'Superman' is good fun of course, it's good solid R.E.M., like the majority of the time. _________________

One of my favorite REM albums...
Murmur > Automatic for the People > Fables of the Reconstruction > Lifes Rich Pageant > Reckoning > The rest... _________________ "And can’t you see you’re in on it?
