Certainly among the most beautiful electronic albums I've ever heard, but also a landmark masterpiece for a genre soon to be featured by dbz. I'm glad that Mr. James had nothing to do with naming the genre.

I thought it'd be some calming ambient music to help me work, when I found out this was ambient-techno. Still pretty good though.

One of My Personal Favorites. In Electronic Music, it's only behind Endtroducing.....

I always thought this one had too much percussion to qualify as ambient. To that end, I much prefer Volume II. But this is still a fine collection of electronic music.

Huh, I always found this to be overrated as hell. After 3 listens, Xtal is still incredibly beautiful, the following 2 tracks are pretty good and Green Calx is awesome. Other than that, I found it to be rather bland. Of the 3 full-length releases under the Aphex Twin name I've listened to (RDJ and I Care Because You Do, counting no EPs) this one was the worst. Sooner or later I must give drukqs and SAW II listens.

This is in my top 100. Next to "In Sides" by Orbital and "Endtroducing" by DJ Shadow, best thing that has given the genre in the fantastic 90s. Despite the efforts of Daft Punk, LCD Soundsystem or Justice, electronic music has lost depth in their conception and tends more to the fireworks.

Great album. It's a bit tiring, but the atmosphere is keen.
