Do you feel you have said anything really bad about music? Things you had no right in saying?

One year and a few months ago I had come to the conclusion if I was to be a good music listener I had to be much more critical to albums I didn't like, sometimes to the point of being extremely harsh on them. Just liking what I did wasn't good enough. There had to be darkness with the light or something like that. It left me feeling terrible in the long run. Never going back to those horrible days. If I can't find anything to say I simply won't have an opinion for now on.

Would you take back anything you have said about music over the years? Everyone here knew less music this time last year so at some point in the past we may have said something bad about an album, artist or song we now like. Do you consider yourself to have had low points?

I think i've made some crimes against music, like I forgot to gave people the recs that I promised for someone then the rec police got me and I was arrested, but in the music court I had a good advocate, and then I never promised someone a rec again

jokes aside, I think I was bad not with music, but with music that people were listening, like I was (I think that I changed) an asshole when I talked about other people's music taste saying that some people's music taste sucked and they needed to listen to good music, and that the music they were listening was awful, and this kind of hurt the person, and only after a long time I saw the shit that I've done... this is the only crime that I think i've done...

I think I make some crimes against music when I let an album that I didn't like "in the shelf" and forget it there. but me & music need to be 50 ft away one from each other for 5 months so it's okay... soon I will hug her again

I just thought they knew more than me so I took their word that songs I liked where really the best out there, and I did like them, I think. But I mean tastes change. I had 3 Avril Lavigne songs on there, and now probably none would be (I still like I'm With You, but it probably wouldn't be top 100 ...)

well...my last "bad thing" I've said about music was to underrate

In The Wake Of Poseidon by King Crimson

I've listened to it again after 2 years: and now I think that it is a good work actually, I still think that there are a few boring parts but it's a nice album.

Once upon a time, I said Psychocandy by The Jesus and Mary Chain was "just noise". I relistened to it with a more open mind and that might have been one of the worst things I've ever said about an album. Psychocandy is still a painfully dull experience, but it is not "just noise".

Nope. I have certainly changed my mind about music, but that doesn't mean I regret past opinions. I believe that people should be allowed to say whatever they like about music, positive or negative, and not have to feel bad about it. One of the beautiful things about art is that it allows us to express ourselves... and a dislike is as much a form of self-expression as a like.

It is quite another thing, of course, if you are talking directly to a musician. They're human beings with feelings, needs, fears, etc., and though they should be open to criticism, dumping your personal baggage on top their head is usually not constructive.

When Nickelback came back, in blistering heat, after a long concert that had already run over time, to play a second encore after some really bad Metallica covers in the first encore and stopping the concert to ask for beer (legitimately 5 minutes of just "Can someone get me a beer"), I felt no regret in joining the family behind me heckling them.
