- Post subject: Topics Not Being Marked as Read
|
I'm having a little problem: when I click the "last post" arrow to see the most recent comments on a thread that is highlighted as having new posts and then exit the thread, the thread still is marked as unread. I go back and scroll up and down on a couple pages to make sure I didn't miss reading something, and it still will not mark threads as read a decent amount of the time, leading me to manually mark entire subforums as read. It's just a minor annoyance in the grand scheme of things, but it would be nice to see it fixed.
e: Funnily enough, it's happening to this thread right now.

Hi, sorry for the problem. I've just tried this and it seems to work ok (at least for me). Once you open a thread with a new post, the icon turns to grey on the main forum indicating you've viewed it. You need to refresh the forum page (if using the back button on your browser), but it should refresh itself if using a forum link to get back to the forum list e.g. Index->Suggestions.

I'm aware of how it SHOULD work, but it isn't. Maybe it's a cookies issue on my end? Let me go check that out.

Just FYI, clearing my browsing data (history, cookies, etc.) fixed the issue, at least for the moment.

Thanks for letting me know. Sounds a weird problem Might have been a browser caching issue.

This happens to me too, actually. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't but it has been doing it for at least a month for me.

Are you using the back button to go back to the forums? If you read an unread thread and then hit "Back" it'll still be marked as unread. You can solve this by either refreshing or just clicking the forum link at the top of the page.
But yeah, I suppose it would ideally work either way.

This is what I usually do and I still have the problem.

I've had this same problem intermittently too. No idea what the cause is but it's always fixed itself after a bit.
