I like the direction they decided to take here. It's a lot more straight-forward than Hospice, and, while it can never match it, Burst Apart is a much more accessible record. It's dreamier context gives it a sort of heavenly feel. If Hospice is the sound of your death, then Burst Apart is the sound of your afterlife.

They fell off hard after Hospice. This album's alright but nothing really stands out.

I'm seeing them in a few hours actually, haha. I liked Hospice. The new album was "okay"

While nothing can stand up to Hospice, this is a damn fine album. There was a time in the very recent past where I really adored this album, and the closing track in particular. Amazing album for sure.

Track picks
1. I Don't Want Love
2. French Exit
6. Every Night My Teeth Are Falling Out
10. Putting The Dog To Sleep

Still love it dearly. Putting The Dog To Sleep is one of my favorite closers of all time. I think I've actually come to prefer Familiars, and Hospice and In The Attic are still untouchable for me, but Burst Apart is great too.

You can compensate for oversentimentality and make it intimate and genuine by creating character for your sound and make it your own. I don't see that being done here. I mean you would honor your melancholy by keeping your words interesting, wouldn't you? I also don't see how incorporating innocuous electronics helps this album; I'm not undermining fans' love for this album, I'm just saying how this album could've made me join their ranks.

It's a pretty good album, different direction, but a well accomplished one. Maybe more accessible, not sure about this. Although I don want love is lovable from first listen.

Their new album, is nice, but for me is far below their first two.

I'm obviously in the minority for preferring this over Hospice. Probably has something to do with that fact that I'm a music first, lyrics second type of listener. But overall I really don't see how you can even compare them, they are totally different.

For me this is one of the best albums of all time. Beautiful is the best single word I can think of to describe it.
