Both Elton and Billy seem pretty underrated here on BEA so I'm curious to see your preferences…for me it's Elton because of his first 5 or 6 albums. This poll has been done before a couple years back but the response was so limited I felt it was worth doing again!

Elton. If you'd asked me ten years ago, I might've gone with Billy. Aside from a handful singles, I really can't stand most of Joel's work at this point. Elton had a great run of albums early on. _________________ http://jonnyleather.com

I'm a bigger Billy Joel fan because of the era when I grew up. But you can't beat Elton's 70's output. His first few albums were outstanding.

I enjoy Elton John's singles more, but I can't say I've really enjoyed an album from either.

Yeah, I think I've heard most or all of the records people are referring to here. Not my cup of tea, for the most part. I still get a kick out of songs like "Rocket Man" and "Crocodile Rock", though.

I think his (Elton John) first seven records are impeccable for pop music, personally.

I don't return to either all that much, but "your song", "Daniel", "Movin out", and "Only the good die young" rank pretty high on my singles list. I think I enjoy Billy Joel more solely because his singles tend to be more fun than Elton's and I can't say I enjoy Elton's albums as much anymore.
