Sparks hit something much more unique, and I'm going to stop by the record store tonight and see if they've got a copy of this Kimono House.

There's nothing forgettable about Sparks, even if you don't like them. There's just nobody quite like them, and this is the record I'd personally call their best.

Court and Spark is simply brilliant. It transcends its setting. Help Me is one of the best falling-in-love songs EVER.

Joni is a goddess. Her ability to craft her emotions into a seamless blend of jazz and folk is second to none and I actually think this is one of her best. The production is exquisite, showcasing her gift for melody like the backdrop to a spring morning.

I actually really like Sparks, they're silly and fun and OTT in all the right ways, but it's an easy vote for Mitchell here.

This was basically a toss-up for me... I could go either way depending on my mood. Kimono is my nom, though, so I'll just vote that.

Super surprised to see Kimono killing it here especially since the superior glam rock album, Country Life, is getting shut out at the same time just down the street. I guess Kimono is more immediate than either Country Life or Court and Spark, but I really have to be in the right mood for it not to be annoying since it often comes across like a spastic, over-excitable poodle. Country Life on the other hand offers a more nuanced, sophisticated take on glam rock. It's like dipping into a hot bath sprinkled with essential oils - luxuriant, relaxing, & yet cerebral.

Meanwhile, Court and Spark is a masterpiece and one of the finest records of the entire 70s never mind 1974. It's a literal tapestry finely weaved with folk, r&b, jazz, psychedelia, and straight-up rock n' roll. Perhaps because it's this layered tapestry, it's a deceptively difficult album though. It probably took me more spins to really get Court and Spark than the Pop Group's notorious Y.

Do you think Kimono My House is glam-rock?

Oh yeah. Totally. More on the theatrical end of the glam spectrum if that's even possible.

Nah. Country Life is good, but it's not quite on the level of Kimono. Roxy did better, but this is Sparks' pinnacle of success
