So you want to get something from the shop. Fortunately for you the shop is at the top of the road on the corner. If you were to listen to music on the way the song playing when you left the house will not have finished when you have stepped in the shop... well unless its one of those really short songs on Pink Flag of course.
So yeah, there and back will never take more than 5 minutes. It's a very short trip.
With this in mind would you bother to lock the door while you were gone? As I said you will be gone less than 5 minutes. Why bother spending time locking it and then unlocking it a few minutes later?
I'd leave it unlocked What about you?

I would. Doesn't seem like much of a risk to me.

I'd like to say I'd leave it unlocked, and I'm sure nothing would happen, but it hardly takes anytime at all to lock the house and it would give me a little bit more reassurance.
Also, maybe it's just me, but I get a kick out of locking and unlocking the door - it's a little reminder that it's your space, something that you own, and I like being able to lock that up.

How does this work? You close it and it locks whether you want it to or not? Is it done using electronics?

Mine too. I wouldn't dare leave my door unlocked. Of course, I'm in an apartment, so there's my apartment door, and the front door to the building. Neither should ever be left open. _________________ http://jonnyleather.com

Would never leave my front door unlocked, but since I live in an apartment complex, the door automatically locks.

Sometimes, there are moments in life where you cannot trust anybody. Even if it was only five minutes, I wouldn't dare risk it. _________________

Last time I left the front door unlocked for 5 minutes someone stole a bunch of stuff from my lounge room. So no, not in my neighbourhood.
