Richard D James Album - Logan Rock Witch
Pink Moon - Know (It's not BAD per say, but it honestly fits as much as Plaisir d'amour)
Pet Sounds - Sloop John B
Feels - Flesh Canoe (I actually LOVE Daffy Duck and Loch Raven)
Dopesmoker - Sonic Titan or Holy Mountain, depending on your version

I love that song on there ... not because it's really musically my style, even, but I think Harisson's guitar on it and the vocals behind it are just so nostalgic sounding for them. That was a very early-style Beatles song on a later Beatles album, it almost felt like them trying to return to them being kids, and on the album. It feels like track 2 is almost starting over from the beginning for them, going from very early garage shows/old covers on What Goes On to the more early-mid-60s Beatles sound on the rest and experimenting a bit more on each track. I don't know, this isn't a concept album by any means, but I've always loved that as an intro for side 2 because it feels like them being kids for one last time. |
That's a good way at looking it I guess....
I've just always found it to be a very weak track, and I always felt like it lacked the energy of their early stuff.
Plus the album had a nice folksy vibe to it that hasn't been properly replicated by any other thing and this country-esque sound kinda ruined the perfect consistency of the album. I personally feel that Rubber Soul is the most consistent of the Beatles' albums and the fact that it ruined the consistency always feels like a slap in the face _________________

About 99.9% of the time any album with a bad song on it I wouldn't ever consider great, so I got nothing.

Maybe the American version'd be more for you? I know it's sacrilegious to even suggest, but the tracklist on that goes:
I've Just Seen a Face
Norwegian Wood
You Won't See Me
Think for Yourself
The Word
Michelle
It's Only Love
Girl
I'm Looking Through You
In My Life
Wait
Run For Your Life
That was actually the first version I heard till I was old enough to buy it on CD. _________________

Really? I find that to be a wonderful song; a refreshing break from the energy of the first side. The lyrics are especially beautiful, they're some of my favorites from Avey. I also love how intimate the whole song feels(fitting with the theme of the lyrics). Panda Bear's backing vocals also add a lot to the song, especially the final note during the fade out. Ah it's such a wonderful song.

I personally like the second half of Feels more than the first (if you had asked me a few months ago I would not have said this) but F;esh Canoe seems, I don't know, cluttered? It's slow, but it's not sparse like the string from Bees to Loch Raven, and the guitar tone kinda gets on my nerves.
Also, I just noticed the two horrible typos caused by autocorrect XP.

No, it's not slow, it's warm and intimate, just like the lyrical themes present on the song. It was a grower for me, so maybe you'll come to love it in time; who knows.
