It's still a month to go, but we already got the first end of year lists from several publications. TY KKS for giving us links. Will just put the top 10s in this post so it's more transparent.

Also, this site is apparently doing the same thing as metacritic, collecting lists, making aggregate scores etc. Lost in Dream in heavy lead so far, which is just silly IMO.

Yikes. I found War On Drugs really bland and thought nothing of it, didn't think it would be at the top (or near the top) of so many lists. I guess I really ought to give it a second listen, there must be something I didn't pick up on.

There's some good variation here, but it's pretty much what I'd expect from publications that focus mostly on rock music.

War On Drugs is... pleasant. I don't object to it any more than I usually object to a consensus-voted #1. These lists are always a good source to have available regardless. Thanks for posting.

Nothing I've listened to, released in 2014, has turned my crank.

Do people really think Sleaford Mods is top #10 worthy? It's like when everyone praised Art Brut years ago only to forget them right after.

NME was inevitably going to like Sleaford Mods. They're very NME.

EDIT: Good on Mojo for including Julie Byrne though.

Very true. It's actually kind of surprising that Sleaford Mods and Manic STreet Preachers aren't #1 and 2 on NME's list

To be honest, I don't know how they managed to make 'The Streets + The Fall + Casio keyboards' sound so shit.

Maybe we should make our own list? I'm thinking something like what HTTS did for the forum regulars' chart. Not till the year's actually over, though.

Yes. I suggest using The Voice - Pazz and Jop's format:
...for ranking albums, you'll have 100 points to divide among
your Top 10 picks, with each entry receiving no more than 30 or less than 5.
If you rank fewer than 10 albums, just subtract 5 points from your 100 total
for each blank. If you'd rather not rank individually, just assign 10 points
per record. All miscomputations will be corrected in-house, to the detriment
of your top-ranked records first.

I've contributed to Pazz and Jop for year's and this format is really great. And if everyone would rather supply a top 20, we could expand the points to 200 to be dividied
