Used to listen to Oliver's Army in the car as a toddler, today I don't get much out of the album.

"Oliver's Army" is probably my favorite Costello song. "Accidents Will Happen" is also up there. The rest of the album is lackluster.

I've actually been meaning to get this album for quite a while. Saw Elvis back in 2011 - great concert!

Personally, I don't understand how any one album can be "easily" somebody's favourite Costello album. Like, my favourite is Imperial Bedroom (I think), but on any given day it could be pretty much any of the albums he released from 1977 through 1982. That run is just fucking ridiculous. _________________ 2021 in full effect. Come drop me some recs. Y'all know what I like.

It's not to say I don't love his other records from that period, but something about Armed Forces hooked me a long time ago to the point where it's been one of my favorite albums of all time for a couple decades. It's basically just such a huge part of my music journey.
I'd definitely not go and say it's easily his best, because I can recognize that his other albums from that period are just as good. Just less part of my DNA. _________________ http://jonnyleather.com
