This year was bound to be awful. It's nice that HAIM broke through, and that St. Vincent got a nod. Other than that, I couldn't care less about this year's ceremony.

The Grammy's don't really award the best of music, neither do the AMA's or most music award shows for that matter. It always feels like the record companies are celebrating their artists who have sold the most records and artists with the largest fan base. Keep in mind it's a highly watched ceremony with big sponsors, America isn't going to tune in to watch The War on Drugs, Temples, Sun Kil Moon, and Aphex Twin. However every once in a while they get an award right like when Arcade Fire's The Suburbs won best album.

The snubbed Jason Isbells - Southeastern last year by not even giving it a nom in Americana.
Thank god they didnt make the same mistake by over looking Metamodern Sounds in Country Music.
Hopefully Sturgill takes it home.

Awful. Just as bad as Rolling Stone. I'd say I'm disappointed, but I expect as little as I do for Rolling Stone. Irrelevant. Maybe the show will be entertaining.

That Beyonce record is fantastic and I like Morning Phase. Haven't heard the other three, though. Are any of them worth it? All I know about Sam Smith is that "Stay with Me" sucks balls.

All awards for art are bullshit, whether it be movies, music, television, literature, or theater. Eddie Vedder put it best when Pearl Jam won a Grammy in 1996:

"I don't know what this means. I don't think means anything."
