Not nearly as funky or delightful as

Mothership Connection by Parliament

Some of the stuff here is great, but this is not my favorite of Parliament-Funkadelic's work.[/u]

Good, but nowhere near Curtis Mayfield level.

Is there another song like "Maggot Brain"? It's Otis Redding, Sam Cooke, James Brown, Jimi Hendrix, and Aretha Franklin all wrapped up into one incredible song. Is there a better opening to a song than

Mother Earth is Pregnant for the third time
For y'all have knocked her up
I have tasted the maggots in the mind of the universe
I was not offened
For I knew I had to rise above it all
or drown in my own shit

Is it possible to be considered the greatest guitar player of all time based off of one solo? Will there ever be another song to capture grief like this ever again?

So yeah, I love "Maggot Brain". And oh yeah, the rest of the album is really great too.

I had just finished listening to Funkadelic's first album when I thought, 'I wonder what's album of the day today', and it's Maggot Brain! Kinda messed with my head. As did the fact that somehow I hadn't rated any of their stuff yet.

The whole album's fantastic (yeah, even the fart sounds on Wars of Armageddon). Aside from (obviously) the title track, Hit It And Quit It and Super Stupid are my other personal favourites off this.

I agree, but it's not meant to be as funky and delightful. It's just as powerful, though.

It's all about "Can You Get To That".

Not many records that fill my desires in as many ways as Maggot Brain

P-Funk had some of the best guitar work of the 70s, up there with David Gilmour and Jimmy Page, and it's too bad that many people failed to see this because they were a black funk group, not a hard rock outfit
