It's alright. Not as uncool as it's often made out to be, but also not as great as its fans would have you believe.

It's beautiful albums like this that are why I love 1967.

Fitting, this album feels very Christmasy to me. So cozy and lovely. I've gone through periods where I was utterly sick of it but I'd say these days I quite enjoy it, as I did when I first heard it (though I loved it even moreso then). Childlike wonder, you know. Reminds me of d'Aulaire's Book of Greek Myths and early Disney movies.

This. Fucking. Album.
This album is gorgeous, it's one of those albums where I remember the first time I heard it. The orchestral arrangements are wonderful, the songwriting impeccable, it's just an incredible work of art. It's everything The Moody Blues were trying to be, their master opus. One of my all-time favorites. _________________ 2023 Chart

If critics cared more about progressive rock then they'll see that this album's been often overlooked. I like the concept of capturing the essence of the different times of the day and I think they did a good job at it. The biggest downside is the time of release (late 1967), long after the baroque pop movement reached its peak and in the midst of psychedelic and roots rock - the instrumentation should have taken a less safe approach, with more experimentation in terms of special effects and editing. _________________

I got this album from my sister as a Christmas present, and now that I have an original copy of it I listened to it at least ten times since December. The first Moodies album I listened to was In Search of the Lost Chord, which I love, and is often underrated, but it was not as unique or that different from the music in 1968 than Days of Future Passed was in 1967. It was the first prog rock album, one of the first concept albums, which it makes one of the important albums of the era. It was such a new idea at that time that even the Decca people could't get into and were not much impressed (was that a speciality in Decca in the 1960s?)
I love the theme of the album, the songwriting, the beautiful instrumentation. Funnily, the musically favourite parts of the album are my favourite parts of the days: afternoon (Forever Afternoon, (Evening) Time to Get Away), evening (The Sun Set, Twilight Time), and night (Nights in White Satin).

Pretty good album, though I wouldn't mind if they had never bothered with the narrator or whatever he is. Nights in White Satin is amazing.

A great album and one of the first vinyl records I owned. I used love listening to this with the lights out and my headphones on.
Everything about this screams 60s progressive/psychedelic/art pop-rock to me. From the album cover to the music inside.
