JiMmY's 1991 MaNiFeStO, pt.2

The Obligatory Vote-Grabber

Loveless by My Bloody Valentine

Noise annoys, still sounds like it was made tomorrow. Both caresses and molests your ear drums in equal measure.

Spiderland by Slint

FIVE FUCKING STARS!! (c) Steve Albini, 1991

The 'Who Left The Guitars At Home?' Pick

The Low End Theory by A Tribe Called Quest

Jazzffyk, as my Welsh friends might say. Top hip-hop I bought from an op shop.

Top Indie-Pop Shop Pick

Heavenly Vs. Satan by Heavenly

Proof that, even after her Taluluah Gosh days, Amelia Fletcher was still the tweest girlie pin-up in town. She's even got an OBE for services to lollipops and anoraks.

Last Orders?

Reggae Owes Me Money by Ragga Twins

When raggamuffin in di area, read about it in di paper, raggamuffin make you bad so bubbling bubbling on di radio. Don't be a ras claat. Big up.

Applerill has a solid team out, but Jim's broken out the big guns here somebit, obligatory vote grabbers is pretty accurate alright, he has mine, plus it's impossible not to love 'Shiny Happy People'.

With The Low End Theory, Loveless and Spiderland all up, there's no way I couldn't vote for 1991.

Voting Jim. 4 of my favourite albums ever, + stronger singles. Easy pick, even if Charlie's got a strong LP team. Lennon wins "repulsive effect" award, nothing that weak in Jim's team.

Jesus. When I saw Applerill's team, I couldn't imagine voting against it, and then Jimmy threw down albums of equivalent greatness. The difference maker is Jimmy's singles. "The Concept" breaks any tie between the albums. Shiny Happy People, Summer Babe, and Feel So Sad just add icing to the cake
