A journey that starts grounded, gazing at the stars in short & hazey folk rock numbers, and ends after a 25 minute sprawling cosmic journey. This album is perfection. If you like Nico at all, please listen to this.
This isn't bad, but half of it is Jimmy Cliff, who doesn't sound like reggae at all. The other half does, and it's good. But then they repeat a couple of the Jimmy Cliff songs at the end.
People used to open up sides of buildings and there would be like improvisational recording studios so his music would come spilling into the streets and everything was so fucking loud and Lagos was filled with clubs that were crazy. Colour was irrelevant and there was this vibe that everyone was accomplishing something that transcended themselves. Truthfully, I have only fleeting memories of Fela, I was much closer to my mum’s friend Ginger Baker… but I remember this magical energy, this sort of mischievousness to him and most of all, the groove to “Why Black Man Dey Suffer”
