Love this album. That bass on Achilles Last Stand, ohhhhh yeaaaaa
And Nobody's Fault But Mine? Hell yea. Love it. Is it Zeppelin I-IV? Nope. But you know what? It's still awesome. _________________ 2023 Chart

It's a polarizing Led Zeppelin album. It's Jimmy Page's favorite, and has it's cult supporters, but is generally considered one of the weaker outputs in their catalogue.
Best track: Achilles Last Stand. Seriously underrated and one of their best. I won't say it anticipates gothic rock or alternative or anything, because it's stylistically still a metal track, but it certainly taps into sounds and colors as yet unheard then or since. The guitar solo is harrowing and the whole song is incredibly creepy and haunting.
"Nobody's Fault But Mine" remains a great bluesy rendition, a little bit more complicated than their earlier blues rock, and very influential (just listent to "Lonely is the Night" or even "Spoonman")
Rest of album- very stripped down bluesy feel, with some exploration of, what is it, boogie tunes? They'd continue that exploration on In Through the Out Door, albeit with a very different style of production. It can get slow at times, but compared to every other band, their "slow" is still pretty interesting. "Hots on For Nowhere" works best for me.
Overall- 4.5/5, and my sixth favorite Zeppelin album- I actually prefer it to the expansive "Physical Graffiti" (though that's controversial) but still lacking the intensity and spirit of their early work.

I never could get into Achilles' Last Stand, let alone this.
