Ah man, one of the best from their early years. Loaded with classics, "If I Fell, "I Should Have Known Better", "And I Love Her", "Can't Buy Me Love" and of course the title track. _________________ 2023 Chart

One of the best examples of Lennon and McCartney's ability to write instantly memorable pop-rock songs. At the time it came out, this was probably one of the top 5 albums of all time.

This! Not sure of the age... grade school sometime. Also, I only had the American version at the time.

They may be known to have matured with Rubber Soul but this was their first truly great album and I actually enjoy it more than half of late Beatles. This is basically interchangeable with Help! for me, although I might give this one the edge since I've always felt they should've ended Help with "Yesterday" and left the mediocre cover song for Past Masters. Loads of great songs on this album but if I had to narrow it down to 5 favorites I'd probably let Paul take #1 but let Lennon have the 3-2 advantage:
10. Things We Said Today
3. If I Fell
2. I Should Have Known Better
5. And I Love Her
12. You Can't Do That

Including jazz? No.
Anyway this is probably the only pre-Rubber Soul album of theirs which is worth listening to in full, with a handful of classic pop songs plus the occasional sign of development (such as I'll Be Back) pointing the way forward to their next three albums. The film is quite enjoyable as well.
