Their music isn't that bad though. Kind of sounds like Passion Pit or MGMT's last album if you squint your ears hard enough.

I was actually thinking about seeing them next week. I've heard they actually dress up in full NASCAR suits and shit.

My God though, do we really need MORE of these guys?

Probably not. But Music Darwin will weed out shit and if they really are nothing we'll have forgotten them by 2016. I Can't really crucify people for having a gimmick in music nowadays. At least not after only one EP and one LP I haven't even heard yet.

But you can be critical of trends and gimmicks you think are stupid, and while this isn't as bad as My Morning Jacket's "Holdin' On to Black Metal", this kind of imagery and gimmickery is no better than that of the glam metal bands from the '80s, and just like those groups it's going to be that kind of prefabricated pandering that drives the scene into the ground once and for all.

I made it through The Decemberists acting out a fairy tale. I can get through a lot.

I agree that using that name is kind of cheating. I feel the same way about bands like Abe Vigota or Gnarls Barkley. But you have to market somehow nowadays.

Really, the music is pretty good though. You should check out the EP. It's only four songs. I'm a little scared that they can't fill out an entire album with their sound, but we'll see I guess.
