Easily the best album they ever released, and arguably the only good album they ever released (though Sam's Town isn't bad). I remember when it came out, just about every girl I knew worshiped "Mr. Brightside", and despite it's (and "Somebody Told Me") radio overplay, this is still an enjoyable album. It's not gonna change your life or anything, but it's good. _________________ 2023 Chart

I still maintain that this is a poorly sequenced album that has some otherwise excellent songs.

God, tracks two through five were all fucking inescapable. Was definitely prone to a spot of drunken dancing to 'Mr. Brightside' when I was fourteen, but this quickly became pretty intolerable, perhaps as much for the overexposure as the music itself (though the music is still pretty awful - consciously anthemic, self-serious, overly compressed, '80s-revivalist caterwauling at its most cringeworthy). Things didn't get any better from here, though if I heard Sam's Town more than twice I've managed to successfully erase any trace from my (admittedly pretty patchy) memory. Just not my thing whatsoever. _________________ 2021 in full effect. Come drop me some recs. Y'all know what I like.

This album feels very weird but gets a little deeper depending on the interpretation. Took me a long time to listen to anything but the singles, but the overall story I get out of it (screw the "Killers Murder Trilogy" idea) is that it's like going to a high school and everything's overdramatic or fun but there's serious stuff happening in the background and the foreground at the same time. I dunno the constant underlying theme of death reminds me of when my school lost a kid to a DUI or even a little bit similar to when a friend of mine committed suicide. It's a very weird listen for me because it takes me to those places and it's an album that very much perpetuated some weird ideas I had about the world as a result. I dunno how to explain it which is why I haven't tried to on here before but yeah. This isn't an album that ought to be emotional but my head makes it something that gets me choked up.
EDIT: on a lighter note apparently a lot of it was recorded at a local studio i know of _________________

It's alright, has some great singles, but the second half isn't that good.

I agree, its their best effort to date. The radio did kill the enjoyment of this album for me. but I still think its great album.

This is definitely the best album by the killers and by a mile. Sam's Town its a solid album, but nothing compared to this. I dont like the order of the album, they threw their singles in the first 5 songs and let the rest of the album just fall apart in a sort of way. By no way they are bad songs, but the seond half lacks the "greatness" of the first half. _________________ "Hurry Up, We're Dreaming"

Great pop album. Still enjoy those singles after a million times. Not fussed on anything after this album.
