One of my all time favorite albums. Important lessons that our world is still struggling with today. Not a bad track in the lot. Personal favorites, Everyday People, You Can Make it if You Try, Somebody's Watching You.

LOVE this album. I first heard it after I got my first record player in 2011 and went on a vinyl shopping spree. It became an instant favorite and has probably been spun more than any other record in my collection of about 100-150. One of the finest albums of all time, and possibly the first soul album that was more about the lyrics than the vocals. It's neck and neck with There's a Riot Goin' On for me; they'll probably swap back and forth on my chart more than any other artist's one-two punch.

Big Sly fan. I suppose I prefer Riot, but they're such different beasts, it's tough to compare side by side. Despite the weighty political themes, this definitely has a much more upbeat feel to it. Anyway, indispensible stuff.

Keep another one on hand for when you were out your current copy!

Fantastic record, and probably their most accessible. This album is what really helped me get into funk.

It's excellent, but it feels kinda quaint next to Riot and Fresh, which were far darker, sexier, sleazier, sleeker, and funkier. It's still wonderful, and there's nobody quite like Sly Stone for capturing the zeitgeist, but this record is musically pretty dated and stodgy, especially when compared to Fresh, which did exactly what it said on the tin.
