I've never understood why people like the Rolling Stones so much. Neutral

I think it gets going with Tumbling Dice. I agree about that "first side" though.

yeah a great album for sure, dont really listen much these days, partially because this one frat i frequented would basically just play this (and occasionally zeppelin IV) on shuffle and it was like "ok we get it u like the stones"

Didn't like the Stones for so long. Started liking them with "Satisfaction" and "The Last Time". Now with this...it took me a few listens, and definitely "Shine a Light" turned me on. It made me realize that country & gospel are extremely important to this record. It captures "bar" culture quite well. It's very down to earth yet sublime in moments. Now I think it's one of the best albums of all time.

Track picks: Rocks Off, Sweet Virginia, Torn * Frayed, Loving Cup, Let It Loose, Stop Breaking Down, Shine a Light

Exile is the album that sparked my interest in blues music, and albums as a whole. Really showed me what a great collection of songs can accomplish. Still can't get enough of Sweet Virginia, Loving Cup, and Shine A Light!

A classic case of the whole being greater than the sum of it's parts. Few people would consider any of these The Stones best songs...but together they create a great feeling that makes the whole album an experience. Standout tracks for me are Sweet Virginia, Rocks Off, Tumbling Dice and Shine a Light. A real classic.

I'm finally getting around to giving this a second listen and I can't help but feel that anyone who doesn't enjoy this is deaf. Rocks Off might be one of my favorite Stones songs, and Sweet Virginia is incredible too. It's so eclectic which is great because normally the Stones suffer from sounding the same all the time.

Although this is the only Stones album I really enjoy so I'm not going to say I'm a fan of the band or anything.

I'll have to put this on my "Listen to Again" list. I remember it was a good album, but I didn't get why everyone called it the best Stones album. Only a few songs stuck out to me the first time, but I have to admit I really, really love Rocks Off and Tumbling Dice, though I have a soft spot for Happy and a couple other songs.
