Sometimes I can't believe it...
...but this album grows more stale the more I listen to it. I think that goes for a lot of Arcade Fire's material for me nowadays. _________________

Magnificent album and probably Arcade Fire's best record. It's absolutely flawless throughout those 16 songs. _________________ "Hurry Up, We're Dreaming"

First two albums are great but I can't fuck with this, I feel they lost a lot of their charm and identity with this bc this sounds more like other third rate indie rock than the exciting band they used to be. Certainly not bad though and i love Ready to Start, City w/ No Children, and Sprawl II. It just doesn't do it for me nearly as much as Neon Bible, let alone Funeral.

In my opinion, Arcade Fire's strongest work. That said, all of their work has aged unfavorably. Yet, this is the most resilient.
Track picks
1. The Suburbs
2. Ready To Start
4. Rococo
5. Empty Room
12. Deep Blue
16. The Suburbs (Continued) _________________ Inversion Verses

My brother considers this to be "the most pretentious album ever made"; I guess it's important to look at that quote in the context of his love for Bill Hicks. He wants to make a parody of this album called "The Shitty", where he talks about how bad California and New York are to grow up in because of "limousine liberals".
This album is really fun, and has some great singles. That is all I have to say.

Well, it's my overall #1. So I guess you could say that I don't hate it. _________________ Overall - The 2010's - 2020

by far arcade fire's worst album. generic, hush-sound-y, boring, predictable, stale, etc.
i love arcade fire - don't get me wrong - but this album is just not that good. if it was my first impression of the band, i'd have never bothered with funeral or neon, and my life would be the worse for it. _________________ follow me on the bandcamp.

I'll admit that Arcade Fire have lost some of their charm as I've listened to more indie rock, but I don't think this feels stale in any way. Maybe it's because I still don't get why people like Neon Bible so much, but this is by far my favorite of theirs and it could probably jump into my top 20 if I ever find the motivation to update my chart again. There's tons of variety here - there's the heavy bassline on Ready To Start, the punkish sounding Month Of May, that droning sound in Half Light II, and that danceable synth in Sprawl II. There's really no filler (besides maybe Empty Room), and the lyrics are a perfect mix of nostalgia and dread.
And honestly I'm not sure how you can call this stale or predictable when Neon Bible has tracks like Windowsill and an entire middle third with songs that are indistinguishable from each other, but again I just don't get that album. And yes #1 of the decade is a little high, but it's definitely top 5 rock albums of the decade. _________________ And it's hard to be a human being. And it's harder as anything else.
