While I do like Radiohead quite a bit, I don’t think even their best album can hold a candle to Slint’s Spiderland.

1960s: A lot of great acts but the Beatles would probably get the nod here.
Honourable mentions: The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, The Velvet Underground and a lot of others

1970s: David Bowie
Honourable mentions: The Clash, Led Zeppelin, Neil Young

1980s: The Smiths
Honourable mentions: Pixies, Joy Division, U2

1990s: Nirvana
Honourable mentions: Radiohead, Oasis

1950s: Chuck Berry
1960s: The Rolling Stones
1970s: Black Sabbath
1980s: Kreator (This one's really hard, there were tons of great bands in the 80s)
1990s: Burzum

1950s: Noone! Probably a few choice Elvis songs, though.
1960s: The Beatles
1970s: Yes
1980s: Iron Maiden
1990s: Radiohead
2000s: Muse

I'd like to add that Bob Dylan is 2nd best in both the 60s and the 70s.

There are so many choices (every decade had 12782590178259018 great artists) so this was hard to choose.

60's-Velvet Underground
70's-The Clash
80's-The Smiths or The Stone Roses
90's-Oasis (i know a lot of people think they are overated but their sound is great), Slint, Or Company Flow
