Have you seen Haneke's Seventh Continent, Hayden? I definitely think it's his best movie, and does the Jeanne-Dielman thing better than any other "normal-speed" movie I know. |
Nope. I'll take that on
I'll be honest, my knowledge of Haneke is kinda sad... I've only seen his latest two.

hey let's resurrect this

so basically what we have here is a lo-fi postmodern blend of fast-paced absurdist vine-era humor mixed with the equally absurd/fast-paced humor of those YouTube Poop videos and blended all together with Slacker's ideas of anti-narrative and dialogue so meaningless that that's actually the whole point? Honestly that description sounds so maddening I feel like I should have really loved this, and to be fair I did for certain stretches, but I kind of feel like only a few select portions of the 100some minutes here were really executed to the fullest potential of whatever this kind of "Slacker for the internet era" vibe is I'm getting. This is the kind of thing I feel like I would love if the bits that tickled my fancy the most were culled together into a much shorter film, but then again making any attempt to derive something truly concise out of this might be kinda defeating the purpose. Who knows. Heh I'll def be directing some of my friends towards this thing. Regardless of if I liked it or not (still undecided on that), am definitely glad I now know it exists.
Alriiighty so I think I send one to Hayden again? Hmmmmmmmmmm here try this

Interesting early animation film, though I didn’t get much out of it. I suppose this is due to my preference for other forms of narrative and aesthetics. That said, I did enjoy it and honestly I’m pretty impressed by the work of Lotte Reiniger here from a technical standpoint.

When The Wind Blows (1986), directed by Jimmy Murakami. It's a lesser-known amazing animated film, but I found out after watching the movie that there's some big names behind the soundtrack: Roger Waters writing most of the tracks and David Bowie (T.T) behind the title track.

In honor of Hayden's 70s film poll, I give you "The Ruling Class" from 1972, starring Peter O'Toole and directed by Peter Medak.

Humm... this could be a good thread for a movie beginner, like me!
For Nutso, one of my favorite movies of all time, even if my friends find it to be quite monotonous, it attracts me in some misterious way, I can't explain

EDIT: Ahhhhh La Antena was lovely. 1.5 hours of pure, unique, enthralling enjoyment.

Tha Godard moveh was gud.
And since I know Hayden's gonna have a nice date for Valentines Day, I hereby declare that he see Bergman's Cries & Whispers with that lucky someone.
(Unless he's already seen it, which would mean he'd have to watch [i]Lenny[i] instead)
