Outside of Abbey Road and The White Album, I'm mostly indifferent to the Beatles' music. But this? This album is stunning. John truly gets cathartic here and for that this has always been a personal favorite. By far the best Beatles or Beatles-related album. At least for me.

This is Lennon's masterpiece, a self-portrait of a existential angst made well before that was a trendy thing to express openly in pop music. Even though Lennon was a sort of hero for me when I was young, I never felt like I idealized him. In fact, I think I was more attracted to his flaws than anything else. Nowhere are those flaws bared so plainly as on this record.

RIP, John. Sad

This is one of my favorite albums of all time, and it's Lennon's best in my opinion.

Goodsir said it best, it's really cathartic, songs like "Mother", "Working Class Hero", "Love", "God", they're some of John's best songwriting, incredible stuff.

Pretty much the only post-Beatles Lennon album I can stand. It has a very understated quality due to the fact that the entire album is John, Klaus and Ringo. The songwriting is raw and from the heart without being pretentious. I still think Paul has the market cornered on post-Beatles work, but this is easily the best post-Beatles album not featuring Sir McCartney.

besides "Temporary Secretary," this is the only document from any of the Beatles as well as the band's career as a whole that i actively choose to listen to every so often

That's too bad, the Beatles are the greatest band that will ever exist on this planet.
