Animal Collective, the amount of bopping and dancing I do when listening to Merriweather is ridiculous, it's the happiest, most upbeat album I've ever heard.

As much as I love Talking Heads and have tried to emulate the woman's hips Byrne mentions on Remain in Light plenty a time in the safety of my bedroom or the mental cocoon of intoxication, I believe this discussion might be better directed towards dance artists. In that case, I'd say Larry Levan, Derrick May, and Frankie Knuckles are pretty standard, widely accepted titans, and the quantity and quality of their output as well as its intangible "ass-shaking factor" is probably the highest. I lean more towards techno, though, so I enjoy dancing to Basic Channel even if its less that rhapsodic, effervescent experience you get with house and disco. I'd definitely dance to Regis or probably more easily to British Murder Boys, his project with Surgeon. As far as one obscurity I think summarizes and distorts and mashes up a lot of great electronic dance music idioms into one incredible package for home listening or use at the club, I'd suggest people check out Untrance's Deleted Seniors.

Generally disco, house music, UK garage, etc. is the best music to dance to. Chic, perhaps, or Larry Heard. The likes of Todd Edwards and MJ Cole are pretty indisputable too. Certainly better than fucking Hot Chip.

Yeah, being someone's "One Life Stand" is pretty antithetical to the point of dance music, for my $0.02. Also, quick question since I have you here, as an American, should I be mangling my pronunciation of "Garage" when I say UK Garage?
