A very pop album. Nothing "indie" or "alternative" about this.

really prefer Blur condensed down to their Greatest Hits comp they put out, but i'll take a hit-and-miss Blur pop album over a miss-and-misser Gorillaz shitheap any day

It took forever for this to grow on me, though now it's become one of my all-time favorites. _________________ "Everyone knows the moon's made of cheese."

Only good album of their britpop period, very enjoyable album with some great songs like End of the Century, Trouble in the Message Centre, This Is a Low, etc. Their third best behind s/t and 13.

Modern Life is Rubbish felt more important as a statement than this one.
The strong single Girls and Boys preceeded the release of Parklife so it was clear that this was going to be a huge album and it didn't disappoint. However it wasn't long before quite a few of the tracks started to grate with it's 'cockney' leanings and I struggle to listen to it all the way through nowadays. Favourite tracks...Girls & Boys, Tracy Jacks, Badhead, London Loves, Trouble In The Message Centre and the timeless Clover over Dover.
My 3rd favourite Blur LP after 13 and Modern Life.
I also really like the artwork.

It's stylistically so diverse, not every song but many of them. My favourite example is Bank Holiday and Badhead, when the first ends and Badhead starts it makes me chills.
This is in my top three Blur albums, along with 13 and Modern Life is Rubbish.
p.s. I listened to it a lot when I registered here on BEA, that's why I chose the name TracyJacks
