Yes, adding Infinity Frequencies to my list of things to listen to. Though I'm still not entirely sure on what the genre boundaries are for vaporwave.

Mostly just taking stabs in the dark when I try to quantify it. Not a very scientific approach but sometimes I'll just decide if something "feels" vaporwavey, though I'm not nearly familiar enough with the genre to have the world's best intuition there. The way I see it it it's like 1 part DJ Paul production, 2 parts smooth jazz, 3 parts various forms of ambient music, 4 parts DJ Screw, 5 parts various forms of plunderphonics, and like a bajllion parts old-ass infomercials and distorted elevator music and whatever the musical equivalent of this is. Also lots of fucking around the edges of the uncanny valley. I dunno.

does anybody actually read these?

Yeah, I read pretty much everything posted in these diaries. Don't always know what to say, though, other than "yeah, that's cool".

Listening to Into The Light right now and loving. I'm a fan of the idea of vaporwave, but a lot of it is kind of like "I'm going to build a house made of cheese" and then just putting a piece of cheese on top of another piece of cheese, so it's not really that much different than just listening to the source material, and in this scenario the source material is a normally-shaped piece of cheese.

But Infinity Frequencies is great.

Ok cool thanks guys I was starting to think I was just babbling at myself. Glad to see I'm babbling to a few others as well Laughing

@Skinny, being yourself a connoisseur of summery tunes, what do you think of "My Boo"?

@Squishy, that cheese metaphor is beautiful and expresses pretty much what I was getting at but in far fewer (and far better) words

@Rocky, gonna get on that ASAP

Songs About Fucking Steve Albini by Kid606

Don't even really wanna talk about this one. Kid606's worst album, and probably one of the worst electronic albums I've ever heard tbh. Title is fucking incredible though

First time I've heard it. Obviously, that's where Mike Will Made It got the beat for Ciara's 'Body Party'. Never knew it was a sample/interpolation until now, but I guess it makes sense - even with its super modern ethereal R'n'B sound, there was something immediately timeless about that melody. Anyway, this is a banger. (That Ciara song is a banger too.) It has an endearing innocence about it that certainly can't be said of a lot of other Miami bass songs that I know. That beat is so simple, but so perfect. Will definitely be dropping this next time I'm at a party. Dope shit.
