As the playoffs of the greatest sport in the world are now under way and there is another thread dealing with who will eventually end up hoisting the Stanley Cup over their heads, I figured it might be a good idea to predict some other award winners.
HART TROPHY (MVP):
VEZINA TROPHY (Best goalie):
NORRIS TROPHY (Best defenseman):
CALDER TROPHY (Best rookie):
LADY BYNG TROPHY (Best sportsmanship):
SELKE TROPHY (Best defensive forward):
JACK ADAMS AWARD (Best coach):
I'm sure I missed some. I'll have to give some consideration to my own choices as well.

?!?!?!
HART TROPHY (MVP): Pekka Rinne - Nashville Predators (Long shot to actually win, but Nashville's offense is the worst of all playoff teams with 0 20 goal scorers, and they still end up in 5th)
VEZINA TROPHY (Best goalie): Pekka Rinne - Nashville Predators (See above)
NORRIS TROPHY (Best defenseman): Keith Yandle - Phoenix Coyotes (another long shot, but he had 59 points on a below average offense, not to mention playing over 24 minutes and a plus 12.)
CALDER TROPHY (Best rookie): Jeff Skinner - Carolina Hurricanes (Can't ask for much more from an 18 year old.)
LADY BYNG TROPHY (Best sportsmanship): Loui Eriksson - Dallas Stars (8 PIM all season)
SELKE TROPHY (Best defensive forward): David Backes - St. Louis Blues (+32 on a non playoff team? Pretty good.)
JACK ADAMS AWARD (Best coach): Barry Trotz - Nashville Predators (They play one of the best team games, not very offensive, but they find ways to win with no star player.)

Meszaros is the fourth (maybe fifth) best defenseman on the Flyers.
Jeff Shultz had a +/- of 50 last year, did he deserve the Norris?
Philly's team position would not have changed if Meszaros was not on it, Phoenix may not have even made the playoffs if it weren't for Yandle.
You may as well give the Norris to Matt Greene or Douglas Murray if you want to give it to a hit leader.

You are right.
O.K. Meszaros gets the thugmeister award for inflicting great pain in battle _________________ .

I hate to disagree with you again, but Meszaros doesn't even get that one. He gets no award. Like most players.

Can't blame you. I've been trying to find something good about the Blackhawks this year, but after three games and three losses I am about ready to give up. They are pale.
At least your team is winning. I still think they'll make it to the final two.

Well, Chicago hasn't won a game yet. That is true. But 2 out of the 3 games were decided by just 1 goal. And they are up against the team that had the best record in the NHL.
It's a shame though when your down 3-0 in games but the other team has only scored 4 more goals than you have. _________________ .
