There hasn't been a new Rictus album in over ten years!

Christelle Ou La Découverte Du Mal by Rictus
(This one's their debut, from 1981.)
That said, I don't think 2024 is going to top 2023. It's an election year in the USA, and then you've got the Olympics, and also I think the world is supposed to end sometime in September. (Why does the world always end in September? You'd think they could spread things out a little bit, month-wise.)

rictus! i have never listened to rictus. thank you for the rec'rmndtn.
i didn't realize september is the month of the apocalypse. good thing the end of the world has the sense to wait til after the olympic games though.
i'm with you though. 2023 was one of my favorite years for music. a good chunk of my all-time favorites released new albums, and most of those were pretty decent to damn near perfect. the only album i have queued going into 2024 is the smile, and that's out at the beginning of the year. *sorry, two albums cause of that rictus. perhaps i should continue to hold out hope for a fourth release from portishead. _________________ follow me on the bandcamp.

Just so we're clear on this, that wasn't a "recommendation." In fact, having now listened to some of the album myself, I'd actually call it more of a "dire warning."

going to make a push to better catalog classical albums i like. i love this site, but the management of classical music is rather messy. i feel like we should have the composer as the artist with an option to add conductor, orchestra, etc. but that's obviously a can of worms once it's opened. and i guess sometimes an orchestra performs works from multiple composers, which only complicates this more. so i guess i don't have an overarching solution. the way rateyourmusic categorizes and parents things is probably better, but their interface is bonkers. so ... i don't know. i've added a handful of albums. i'm only 30% sure i did them right by this site's current expectations. _________________ follow me on the bandcamp.

i don't like the auto-tune or the pitch-correct.
i don't like the cgi-dependency.
i don't like the ai music or the ai art or the chatbot text.
i feel like i'm on crazy pills.
imitate as these things may,
they all sound, look, and taste like trash.
cutting corners, saving money, polishing turds.
i'm all for reinventing the wheel,
but don't toss out the baby with the bathwater. _________________ follow me on the bandcamp.

god is good, but have you seen him lately? churches stretch into the sky, reaching up instead of out as waterborne illness continues to kill children all around the world. i've seen the stake in my eye, but i've not gone completely blind. we need you to get off the floor and answer the door. you could change the world, but you waste your riches on architecture. _________________ follow me on the bandcamp.

listening to less and les these days. playing the guitar les as wel.
writing more. two novels started in earnest. one high fantasy. one surrealism (or magical realism) inspired by franz kafka and michael ende's adult works (e.g. the mirror in the mirror, the prison of freedom, etc.). _________________ follow me on the bandcamp.
