As much as Mr. Costello himself reminds me of the great Rivers Cuomo, This Year's Model seemed pretty bland to me.

However, regardless of how annoying Bruce is, he created a surreal masterpiece in Born To Run.

Well I got three Bruce albums on my top 12 and on my artist ranking he holds the #4 spot (after Beatles, Stones and Dylan), so it's not a hard choice. Make sure you listen to his first two albums before casting your votes. They are nothing like the later stuff that I can understand does not appeal to all tastes.

The Boss wins by a margin.

Bruce.

Born to Run is probably equal to My Aim Is True & This Year's Model combined :S

My favourite songs by both are Born To Run and What's So Funny Bout Peace Love & Understanding, and I prefer Born To Run more.

So ya, Bruce Springsteen wins for me, although neither of them are my piece of cake.

Yeah, I agree with this. Both are great songwriters and showmen. Neither have a wide vocal range. They write about totally different topics and perspectives though, and of course their styles are totally different. I think Elvis is more of a wordsmith though, and I appreciate that in a songwriter. on the other hand, Bruce is a very economical songwriter and says a lot in very few and simple words, Yeah, Elvis by a hair.

Definitely Elvis Costello, his first 9 albums are amazing. Born to Run and Tunnel of Love are also great but Elvis wins.
