A broad term, but what would you say?

D. I. Go Pop by Disco Inferno

Here's some young guys in the first half of the 90s doing some pretty adventurous stuff that still fits in the rock mold. It stays in a pretty accessible territory while playing around a lot with the way things sound, very much worth checking out.

Dan'l Boone by Dan'l Boone

For something more recent, here's a 2014 album featuring someone from Royal Trux (who's Twin Infinitives album is certainly up there so count that one too) along with younger cool people and it gets into some outer limits deconstructed rocking, some of the best of the decade.

Childe Harold - Anne With Love/Brink Of Death

This is a psych rock band that included Walter Carlos (later Wendy). They only released a 7 inch.

being a massive fan of several Wendy Carlos albums I don't know how I A) didn't know this existed and B) didn't know she transitioned. The more you know. (Gonna check on this 7" myself for sure)

Experimental is kind of a vague term but I like these

Hisou (Pathétique) by Fushitsusha

Psychic... Powerless... Another Man's S...le Surfers

This Heat by This Heat

Ash Ra Tempel by Ash Ra Tempel

The Ascension by Glenn Branca

Transient Random-Noise Bursts with Anno... Stereolab (rip Silver)

In Den Gärten Pharaos by Popol Vuh

Distortions by Blue Phantom

Die Donnergötter by Rhys Chatham

Mogwai Young Team - Mogwai
Thick as a Brick - Jethro Tull
Vision Creation Newsun - Boredoms
Swordfishtrombones - Tom Waits

All four are very different and would probably be considered parts of different genres, but they all fall under the very loose umbrella of experimental rock.

The whole problem with this label is that it's far too vague and broad and yet all of these albums and still no one's even mentioned

I just listened to this for the first time, and as someone who usually isn't into the experimental world, I really liked it:

(pronounced with a dipthong as in boy)
