Remember when I talked about Tori Amos being Joycean? To a lesser extent (or at least a less explicitly musical or stylistic one), there are a lot of amazing female singer-songwriters (Newsom, Mitchell, Spektor, blah blah blah) who take that general sort of literary structure for their albums, but probably the most famous for it is Kate Bush. But I think The Sensual World was her peak in this regard, The songs themselves drift through a stream-of-consciousness haze, until David Gilmour's amazing guitar shoots you back into reality.

I still remember waking up at 3AM on September 1 2009 and listening to this for the first time over my algebra homework. I originally bought it on Amazon because of Tori Amos comparisons I heard everywhere, but I felt like it was vastly different, even from the rest of Bush's discography that I'd discover over the next couple years.
