THE BUFFET REVIEW

INTRODUCTION

Throughout my many experienced years of listening to music of all forms, R. Kelly has stood out to me as someone to continues to put out music of a great caliber (hence why "Black Panties" is at number 7 on my chart). From R&B, soul, hip hop, to even gospel, Kelly does it all, and he does it all quite well. Needless to say, I like Kells music a lot (going as far as to say he might be the black Bob Dylan!), and so I was very excited for The Buffet. Let's see how it turned out.

THE GOOD

It's ambitious. It's tenacious. It's Kells back better than ever.

The opening track "The Poem", a tasty treat, or to put more simply an or'derve for the soul, really preps you for the album. The next two songs are only there to really set the tone for the guests at the next 4 songs. In "Let's Make Some Noise" you can definitely tell that Kels really ate the booty like groceries Wink. "Marching Band" really picks up the pace with Juicy J to back up the Kels, spittin' mad fire like nobodies business, and "Switch Up" really keeps that pace goin'. Now this is all fine and dandy but the second half of this album is where things really shine. "All my Fault" is a straight up rocking tune that I could make love to any hour of the day, and then "Wake Up Everybody" has a lot of real soul put into it! The next four songs are really the climax of this album (pun intended heh), with "Sextime" being the best on the album by far!

Along with all of this, you can clearly see his use of all his styles and the great production. There's definitely a clear influence of Sinatra in here, but to know to what degree would require some more studying. Overall there's a lot of good here.

THE BAD

Though I loved the 48 minutes I spent with Kells' newest piece of work, there are no hits here. While "Sextime" is a new favorite of mine, I don't picture it being a worldwide phenomenon much like his other works. Overall, not a lot of bad here if any.

THE END

This is a great return to form for R. Kelly. Fans of any type of his music will love this start to finish, even if it didn't knock you out of your socks for atleast one song.

Pretty well thought out review my fellow niggy, honestly think this surpasses anything Kells has done in the past. Honestly think "Sextime" is this generations new "Bump N' Grind". The Lord has blessed us.

Cheers
