It kinda tries to be Close to the Edge way too hard. Despite that there are some very interesting compositions and peaks and valleys of sound. No Bill Bruford, but Alan White does a fine job replacing him. It's not a bad record.

Is it solipsistic in here or is it just me?

I love it. I'm a sucker for self-indulgent prog like this, and Yes is my favorite. Gates of Delirium is sublime, and it ends with my favorite thing Yes has ever done, "Soon", which is just downright gorgeous. The way they experiment with jazz fusion is great. I have a whole bunch of Yes vinyls, and I spin this one quite a bit.

Awesome album that deserves to be mentioned in the same breath with The Yes Album, Fragile, and Close to the Edge. Sound Chase is the highlight for me, being such a virtuoso showcase. Even by Squire's impossibly high standards, the bass work on that one is exceptional.
