I've always thought of this as the DSOTM of hip hop, but not always 100% positively. I've learned to love it again in this past month, though; "It Ain't Hard to Tell" is an absolutely extraordinary closer, and half a dozen other tracks are on its level.
A cautionary tale. Never record something this good as your first album - you'll spend the rest of your career with people going "okay but its not Illmatic" whenever you release anything. _________________

The first side of this album is incredible and one of the best ever. _________________ Attention all planets of the solar federation: We have assumed control.
