I'm probably one the least inclined to have any form of love for hard rock or metal on BEA, but I really like this. The weight, the weight of this! "Heavy" indeed.

Feels a lot more meandering and groovy than what Sabbath would move on to do seven months after with Paranoid - which shaped up their fully realised sound - but this debut is still as earth-shattering and sinister. Love it.

I always go to this vinyl when its a rainy weekend morning. Perfect atmosphere. Tend to enjoy the whole album slightly more than Paranoid.

This has been one of my top ten favorite albums ever since late middle school, yet I still don't know how to describe why beyond the basic birthing platitudes. I feel bad about that, but the only other argument I can make is that the idea that this was recorded all in 24 hours makes this feel all the more like a revolution.

And of course, "NIB" is one of the greatest songs of all time.

I love how this album manages to sound so dark and evil while still being firmly rooted in the blues. I mean, blues had always had a dark side, but never like this.

dat album's lame tho (at least it was when I last listened five years ago). I know it was when the word "heavy metal" was first used, but even the Black Sabbath reviews of Lester Bangs and Robert Christgau were more fun.

It’s not, though you’re welcome to be a boring meme machine if you want. Also, Bangs was a hack and an antagonistic moron. Reviews should never be described as “fun”.
