I'll need to listen to other albums by Talking Heads (only heard Remain in Light thus far), but..
MBV have Loveless, Isn't Anything and the following EPs: You Made Me Realise, Glider, Strawberry Wine, Tremolo. + I nominated them Very Happy

...So MBV it is Smile

You really need to check out TH's first 3 albums though. Classics.

Ouch this is really tough, two of my favorite bands. Ultimately if it's based on the lifespan of the band I don't think there's any question that it would have to be The Talking Heads. Loveless, and to a lesser extent Isn't Anything, are brilliant, but The Talking Heads had a 4 album run from 77-80 that few bands have ever come close to in terms of sheer inventiveness and unbridled creativity. Talking Heads is the correct answer.
