It's a pretty good album in all honesty. Don't understand why it has a 71.

Because a 71 is exactly the score a "pretty good album" deserves. 71 means people generally enjoy it.

I would argue that in BEA standards

Album >= 77 "Pretty Good Album" the majority enjoyed it
77 < Album <= 70 BEA Average "It´s an ok" album, some dig it, some dislike it, mostly think is just average
70< Album People dont like the album

I´m not implying this is the correct way... I'm just saying people in BEA rate albums higher than they should

pretty good indie pop album even if it is very formulaic and perhaps lacking in depth- Not that it ever wastes any time trying to be 'deep'

I guess this is true, and I'm part of the problem. I should be better about rating albums I dislike. I have a tendency to only rate albums I like, so my rating average is somewhere around 80.

Perfect description, and I agree.
