Hi BEA! Happy Autumn. Very Happy

So the idea here is to post 1 song every day of the month (ok so I meant to post this on the 1st, but whatever it just means day 1 you'll be posting 2...) corresponding with a certain theme. Because why not. It'll be fun trust me. (It's even more fun if you give a little explanation as to why your selection fits the bill)

__________________________

Day 1: A song that makes you smile
Day 2: A song you’re currently obsessed with
Day 3: A song that reminds you of a friend
Day 4: A song you'd love to hear live (or hear live again)
Day 5: A song for summer
Day 6: A song you like from a movie or TV show you like
Day 7: A song that reminds you of childhood
Day 8: An ideal ringtone song
Day 9: The most recent song to be seriously stuck in your head
Day 10: A song you'd like to play at your wedding (or a favorite that you already did play at your wedding)
Day 11: A song you'd like played at your funeral
Day 12: A song that makes you want to dance
Day 13: A song for winter
Day 14: The theme song to a TV show about your life
Day 15: A song that calms your mind
Day 16: A song to play when angry
Day 17: A song to play before bed
Day 18: A song you like to play at parties
Day 19: A song that pumps you up
Day 20: A drinking song
(even if you don't drink you can still have a drinking song)
Day 21: A song for Spring
Day 22: A song you can't help but sing along to
Day 23: A song people not might expect you to like
Day 24: A song that makes you feel like you can take on the world
Day 25: A song for a romantic occasion Wink
Day 26: A song that can make you cry
Day 27: A song that can cheer you up
Day 28: A song you love to play or wish you could play on an instrument
Day 29: A song for Autumn
Day 30: A song that sums up the month for you

Alright so there's teeny bit of catching up to do (my bad), but here goes (please don't post youtube links because all tumbnails and no hyperlinks makes firefox a dull boy)

P.S. anyone that's joining late no need to catch up for each missed day if you don't want to. Feel free to just jump in at whatever day we're on Smile

Day 1: A song that makes you smile
Grateful Dead - Eyes of the World
There's just something so shamelessly earnest (in the most spectacularly hippy way) about this thing that I can't help but grin a little. In the hands of a lesser songwriter I might find a similar tune rather grating if anything, but something about the way Hunter/Garcia put these words together just totally undermines my inner cynic, and I dig it.

Day 2: A song you’re currently obsessed with
f(x) - Pretty Girl
Cute with an edge. Seemingly just a bouncy kpop fun time tune (which would be excellent in its own right) this thing has some neato lyrics criticizing society's pantomime "pretty girl" beauty standard, and it's delivered with some bite while still being catchy as all hell. Dancing

Day 1: A song that makes you smile:
Azealia Banks - 212 FT. LAZY JAY
it makes me smile and happy, I love the tune, the voice, her clothes and the way she dances. I can't say how many times I watched this video.
Day 2: A song you’re currently obsessed with
Mery Pollege - Muri
I saw this young and promising girl live last week, she played 4 songs and she was so shy that she couldn't almost look straight ahead, I immediately loved her. I'm listening to this song every day since her show.
Day 3: A song that reminds you of a friend
Mitski - Your Best American Girl
well...Saoirse is not actually a friend but I love to think that he's a virtual one, even if we spoke only two times on the "plug room". He unconsciously gave me tons of recs and I've always loved his posts.
Once he played a Mitski's tune and every time I listen to this song I think of him.

you guys are doing smiling the right way I gotta say Smile

Day 3: A song that reminds you of a friend
Mary O'Hara - Óró Mo Bháidín
My friend Conall was born in Ireland (though he's spent most his whole life in the states). Basically I was at his house and he told me to play "some good music for once" so I blasted this to I dunno tease him about how Irish he is or something? Well it worked but then his mom walked in the room and in her thick Irish accent just goes "oh my is that Mary O'Hara? Ah this brings me back..." and she proceeded to praise me for my song selection and lambaste my friend for not appreciating his own heritage enough. It was amazing. Laughing

Day 1: A song that makes you smile
Alvvays - Adult Diversion
Can Anyone resist to this sweetness without opening a big sunny smile? Well If you're not a boring pale gnome, it's just impossible, believe me

Day 2: A song you’re currently obsessed with
Chris Cohen - Caller No. 99
Dream pop? Neo-psychedelia? I really don't know and don't care but something in this song addicts me, probably how light the guitar floats between the music's walls, and these drums, uuuuh these drums, probably the best song from the decade, Yeah I know bold statement, but it's my Song-a-day and you can't do anything in my kingdom u.u

Day 3: A song that reminds you of a friend
Cícero - Tempo de pipa
I find it quite amazing how hard is to me to associate music with people, mostly because I make up all the stories and memories on my mind, but yeah, this one is for you wherever you are my dear.

Day 4: A song you'd love to hear live (or hear live again)
Silver Soul - Beach House
It's not even My favorite BH song, but whenever I listen to it mentally project myself melting while this play right in front of my ears and eyes. damn now I want to listen to it

>tfw when beach house will never play in your hellhole city
;-;

Day 4: A song you'd love to hear live (or hear live again)
Animal Collective - In the Flowers
I've never seen AnCo live, but I can only imagine just how crazy it must be when "IF I COULD JUST LEAVE MY BODY FOR A NIGH" drops

playin catch up

Day 1: A song that makes you smile
Odion Iruoje - Aro Affair (Crazy Scene)
https://soundwayrecords.bandcamp.com/tr...razy-scene

I don't even know what to say about this, it is just demented.

Day 2: A song you’re currently obsessed with
Young Thug - Kanye West
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wAhNZO7Fwd0

I haven't really kept up with the pop stuff, or hip hop, honestly a lot of the trends that have been going on haven't felt like they're for me, and that's even how I've felt about other Young Thug I've heard. This just feels undeniably catchy and breezy the whole way through, really dig the whole release but this song is especially striking for the wamp-wamp/wet-wet stuff. I dig it.

Day 3: A song that reminds you of a friend
Marcy's Playground - Sex And Candy
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-KT-r2vHeMM

In the middle school carpool, there was always a debate about this song when it would come on the radio. Robert was always insisting that the line "casting devious stares in my direction" was in fact something to do with erections.

Day 4: A song you'd love to hear live (or hear live again)
Jacques Lejeune - anything from blanche niege
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ma8X4ZeTe0

This was a soundtrack to some kind of weird dance performance thing of snow white, I bet that would have been cool to see.

Day 5: A song for summer
Guerilla Toss - Grass Shack (Giant Claw Remix)
https://guerillatoss.bandcamp.com/track...claw-remix

This has been a big part of my summer, this whole ep is like way better than any Guerilla Toss or Giant Claw thing I've heard from them separately. But having Giant Claw build crazy elaborate structures around Kassie Carlson's vocals makes for the perfect delivery for both the hyper-artificial synthesis of the clawman and the exaggerated qualities of Carlson's vocals.

Day 4: A song you'd love to hear live (or hear live again)
Regina Spektor - Samson
I'd love to stay close to the stage, listening to her beautiful voice and looking at her beautiful smile while she sings one of my favorite songs.
Day 5: A song for summer
Stealing - Lilies on Mars
They define themselves on their FB profile as "Cosmic pop", I'd add the word "ethereal" and this last word represent perfectly my latest idea of summer: I've been flying over things and if I look back I can't say if they were just a dream.
The summer for me is fleeting, delicate, almost as light as air.
I met one of these girls a few weeks ago, they're from Sardinia but I'm sure she came from another dimension...
