Or screamo like Megadeth and Motorhead.

I dunno, I used to think this was pretty good, but now all those idiots who claim that Johnny Cash is the only good country music have ruined it for me, to the point where I want to make a chart called "Country Albums I'' Listening to Instead of At Folsom Prison".

This is like hating U2 because a bunch of people think Bono's an asshole. Or even more like hating Abbey Road because everyone else likes it.

Hmm, I think feeling less into an album because of a condescending audience is a bit different than those (which is what I meant by associating them with that "everything but country and rap" byline), but then again, some of my favorite music nerds hate on the Beatles and U2 all the time.

Just to be clear, I think this album's alright, but the country-tokenist pedestals this is so regularly placed on is a little embarrassing.

Why do you care about that? What should be important is what YOU think of the album. What others think about or say about Johnny Cash or Folsom Prison Blues should have no bearing at all on that.

yeh I'm with Rom on this. Separate art from artist, but also separate just externalities in general (audience included) from artist imo. Also Johnny Cash might have a part of his fanbase that's kinda annoying but like the whole world of extreme music (be in black metal or power electronics or what have you) maintains fanbases that are problematic at best and church burning fascists more likely. Also Swans are cool despite being the band-of-choice for the cyber-misogynist. It can be good music though! Don't rob yourself of good tunes because people who listen to them suck! Then you're just letting the assholes win! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=10WzB9JMT_o
