EDIT: have listened to exactly none one of those (Wiley, good. Grime not rap though? Unsure, genuine question). Thanks for the recs.

It's grime as opposed to hip-hop. Still rap music, though, given he's rapping. Wiley (arguably/probably) does more rapping on that record than either Drake or Future do on their albums I mentioned. Anyway, it's all just semantics, and given the increasing cross-pollination in rap - trap is essentially the same tempo as grime; Drake's latest draws heavily on grime and dancehall and even deep house, amongst other things - it feels more acceptable now than ever before to group them together. (I think?)

As of now:

1. Quelle Chris - Being You Is Great
2. Riddlore -Afromutations (instrumental, but I'll count it)
3. Karriem Riggins - Headnod Suite (also instrumental)
4. Jonwayne - Rap Album Two
5. Freddie Gibbs - You Only Live 2wice

Your Old Droog's Looseys should be somewhere in there too. Gotta give Packs a full spin. Still have the new Oddisee and Roc Marciano on my listenlist.

According to my chart

1. Jonwayne - Rap Album Two
2. Future - Hndrxx
3. Freddie Gibbs - You Only Live 2wice
4. Roc Marciano - Rosebudd's Revenge
5. Kodak Black - Painting Pictures
6. Gang Signs and Prayer - Stormzy
7. Quelle Chris - Being You Is Great, I Wish I Could Be You More Often
8. Drake - More Life
9. Your Old Droog - Packs
10. Bedwetter - Volume 1...

Really just dig the rich, classic sounding beats on Jonwayne's new album, it's stays humble while still experimenting a little bit, and he comes across like a thoughtful guy you could have a beer with.

Listened to Future's Hndrxx because of The Needle Drop's slating and ended up really enjoying it lol. Nice, consistant vibe, Future's his typical stylishly sleezy self, most songs are 'lit' as the kids say. 'Selfish' has become my current guilty pleasure.

Really impressed with Gibb's release, but it's about half the length I'd like it to be, and even then still not completely consistant. I guess it's more of an 'I'm back' message than a full length drop.

Pretty much everything else I need to listen to again. Quelle Chris's album is the kind of thing I think I'd really enjoy if I really paid attention, but passed over me both listens, I guess because it lacks any punchy melodic beats off the bat. Same with Roc's album, can't remember anything, gunna listen again tomorrow.

Your Old Droog is getting a lot of attention elsewhere atm. I loved his debut EP after the whole 'is it Nas' thing. Now that he's more prolific I just can't put my finger on what doesn't sit right with me. Just feels like he's all imitation. Definitely talented, but he seems to have zero personality outside trying to sound like 90s Rapper 101.

I love your old droogs album. Probably because it sounds 90s. For me he has enough of his own personality but on the face of it he does sound like someone with a voice a bit like Nas who raps like MF Doom.

following Skinny's definition of "albums that contain rapping": (top 11 because I couldn't narrow it down to 10)

11. Mozzy - Fake Famous
10. Your Old Droog - Packs
9. Philthy Rich - Seminary
8. Down 2 Earth - Fair Share
7. Wiley - Godfather
6. Seed of 6ix - The Dunigans Mixtape
5. Lushlife - My Idols Are Dead + My Enemies Are In Power
4. Stormzy - Gang Signs & Prayer
3. Roc Marciano - Rosebudd's Revenge
2. Quelle Chris - Being You Is Great, I Wish I Could Be You More Often
1. Elucid - Valley Of Grace

I would recommend all these to basically everyone
